WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a an increase in specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. A random additional substat is also increased with each upgrade.

Upgraded gear generally sees more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as useful for those with lower requirements because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapons. The item upgrader kit used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that are used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They are purchased by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any weapon, tool or armor. The button will display the item upgrade's next upgrade level, in the event that there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the item and the current item level. For example, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. After an item level upgrade (click through the next article) has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

First, you should know that crests are only available for gear with a certain rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The most basic and straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the more complex one can require as much as 20 crests depending on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through finishing tasks at the appropriate level. Using these new currencies isn't that difficult however, the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. Once a piece of gear has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest level possible for all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests have one use and it's crucial to use them wisely. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to avail the account-wide discount when all of the slots are full of high-quality equipment.
