World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it may increase the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level and boost additional stats.

Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a certain amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's base stats increase when it is upgraded. This is the sum of all of an item upgrade - Find Out More,'s leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive depending on the person you hire and what you decide to do. This is because of how many perks must be replaced to allow the Best item upgrader to be upgraded.

The level of an item is a commonly used measure of power, and is visible on all item tooltips. It is also used as a gating requirement when queueing for dungeons, scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is capped at an lower level). The average level of an item can be found on the character sheet.

The level of an item will allow players to compare the power of equipment when they decide to buy or sell. It's a good indicator of the quality of an item and the amount of damage it will be capable of dealing with. Comparing items in a vendor's stock can be done using the level of the item.

The level of the item can be seen by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the full description of the item, as well as its ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are a variety of theories on how the item level is calculated. One theory says that the level of an item is determined by an equation that determines the value of the stats of an item really are. It takes into consideration that different advantages are valued differently and that gems in sockets increase the value of the item. This could result in a calculated item's ilvl that is often very close to Blizzards actual item level.

However, this is not the only factor that can affect an item's ilvl because the level of the area the item was dropped in could alter the value of its stats, for example by adding a level to its haste or crit rating. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have higher ilvl.

Item Stats

The stats of an item are a major component of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game uses a variety of them in different ways to encourage players to play with a variety of weapons, and to prevent one weapon from being "the Best item upgrader." The base stats of a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modifications, which are themselves increased by the player's skill.

Item upgrades add to that by increasing certain stats on the item upgrading. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. A white or grey item for instance, will only be upgraded one time and items with rare tiers can be upgraded several times at higher prices.

Affixes are another way to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. Affixes can do things like give the item extra damage, or add a unique ability to the item (such as reviving dead or decreasing the cooldowns), or make the item unique by giving an additional name to the item.

All affixes can be re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a specific amount of gold and other items that can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other rerolling options.

Players can choose to upgrade an item with a specific stat, or reroll attaches. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However every item will include at least one stat within the range, unless they are an exclusive item or an item that has a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

This is another aspect that could be changed by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or selecting which stats to increase. But as with base equipment, this would need to be performed on a per-item basis, and the item compare interface wouldn't show all possible stats gained or lost at once.

Item Luck

A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the chances of item upgrader kit discoveries, the properties spawned on loot drops, and the intensity of the properties. It doesn't, however, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It simply gives players a chance to acquire better equipment earlier in the game and is therefore more valuable in the initial game run than in later ones, because most players value more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over damage gains.

In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chance of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall upgrade chances, which increase with each new level of item. It is also possible to be enhanced by using anti-materials, such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can be made or spawn using the Luck property, which has the default value of 40. These items can be improved with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) to add another 40 luck, or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.

Certain items, like the weapon that is infused with hollow, can also be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any skill that causes damage by 5percent. These items can be purchased from the shop or crafted using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chances of success for an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their items if it does not work.

The rate of success of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of successfully upgrading that item and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to how much the success rates can be improved and the chance of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%..

The success of an upgrades is also influenced by the luck of the item. Each item has a success rate of 25%, and each item that has Luck increases this chance by five percent.

The upgrade overlays for items are rendered above the items in the inventory. This may obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
