WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boost in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random substat is also added to every upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for the latter due to the requirement to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item upgrades that is used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

The cost of upgrades will depend on the current level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item upgrading from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items which can be used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and other items. They are purchased by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for various currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. button, which will display an item's preview at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item level upgrade and the current level of the item as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Certain upgrades provide a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currencies.

It's also crucial to choose crests in a wise manner, as they have only one purpose. For instance, it's best to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the top gear you have available and keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to create. This is especially applicable to trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, that will be able to avail the account-wide discount when all of the slots are full of high-quality gear.
