WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a an increase in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.

The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrades upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item upgrades level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item however, they are always less expensive than purchasing new equipment. For example upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor with an button, which will display an item's preview at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and the current level of the item level upgrade, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.

Item upgraders can be found in many places including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of obtaining the latest recipe. The discount on upgrades increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded. It can also be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no item upgrader available at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3 the upgrade system was modified a bit, and numerous new features added. Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a few choices. They can choose to use Flightstones that are a common upgrade currency available to all players, or crests that are more specialized and are used to upgrade specific levels of the item. Crests are an important part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests can only be used on equipment that is of a particular rank, and every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, contingent on the type or gear that is being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, which means walking around and doing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an Item Upgrade upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and routes.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it brings some changes to the process of upgrading. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest level possible for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests only have one purpose and it's crucial to use them wisely. For instance, it's best to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrader equipment available and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially applicable to rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to avail the account-wide discount if all slots are full of high-quality gear.
