Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to upgrade their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, increasing its base stats or providing additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.

Items with weak bases, such as rings, can be upgraded into stronger bases. Items with strong bases, such as eth Titans have little changes in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be slotted into weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, giving an added bonus or effect while the equipment is used. They can be bought from vendors, gathered in loot, thrown away by enemies, or obtained as a reward from missions or chests. Some upgrades additionally have special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be above a certain point before they can be upgraded.

In order to upgrade an item of armor, the user must choose it and click on the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade stats will be and also the component or material needed to complete the upgrade.

There are three types: universal upgrades (which include gems) Prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which are made up of gems, can be placed in any type of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions are jewels that can only be used in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They offer the same benefits as jewels, but they cannot be used with any other equipment. Suffix upgrades that can be put in gathering tools, will add their names to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for example adding a Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If a player upgrades a gathering tool, and replaces the glyphs with a different one, the old one will be returned to their inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will damage it, with the exception of inscribed glyphs that can be swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade process differs from previous versions in several key ways. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can be upgraded a specific number of times before being "leveled out." The cost for upgrades increases with each level up however, the materials needed don't increase as much. This allows players to focus their efforts on a select few items and maximize the impact of those items rather than spreading upgrade costs over multiple pieces.

When an item is finished being leveled, it will be eligible for an upgrade set of components, as well as an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Power and it will reset to zero on failure or increases when the upgrade is successful.

Once a piece is upgraded to its maximum level, it will be able to gain affixes which will enhance its capabilities. The number of affixes available will depend on the item's type. For instance, an uncommon or unique weapon with a standard base will have only two affixes. A legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade step will require a specific amount of Flightstones or Crests, depending on the type of item at its current level and in what slot it is located in. Weapons typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item fails to reach its max level the NPC will offer players the option to transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with a different set of upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and costs the same amount of material but will have less chance of success.

Engineers may employ a level to compare the height of the building with a known location, such as an existing benchmark. This process is called a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method guarantees that the buildings are constructed with an extremely high level of accuracy and security.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is an important aspect of the game and can drastically increase the strength of an item, damage, or other attributes. You can do this via the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button every time you upgrade an item upgrade. Rerolling can be expensive and should only be performed in very rare instances.

The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, which are used to obtain reroll tokens. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another item of the same type. Recyclable items come with an indicator of level that indicates how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The amount of level that has been filled is contingent on the rarity and the upgrade cost of the item.

Prior to this, certain upgrade items were given priority affixes that made them more accessible for players to roll. This meant that you could receive the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other. This included stats like the armor's total armour, thorns, and diminished duration due to control or the weapon's bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.

This has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes were removed and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling for each stat. This can be a great or bad thing dependent on your needs and requirements from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can come with a bonus that increases the power of the item by a specific percentage or flat value. These bonuses are added into the usual affixes. The more you upgrade your product, the better your chances of receiving the bonus of a different kind.

The game also comes with various sets which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on a unit. This is a good method to give the character more power without spending a ton of money.

Many players opt to reroll their equipment and weapons, especially in the beginning stages of the game. This is because rerolling can provide a much faster route to becoming a strong character which allows them to achieve higher levels and progress in the game more quickly.

Sets

Sets are collections of elements that can be organized in a variety of ways. They can be of various sizes, have no elements at all or have a single element. They are useful for organizing data or separating information. They also aid in analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways, including by size and shape.

There are many set items that can be upgraded in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain items are worth upgrading and others aren't. Armor sets with high defense values or set bonuses are generally worth upgrading. Weapon upgrades are not as effective in improving stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if your collection of armor and weapons pieces is already extensive.

Certain set items are upgraded to take advantage of their own unique functions which can be useful in some builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are examples of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement increased as well).

Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them into parity with their levels. For instance, the Immortal King set has a vast range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower level items can improve their defense, and improve their performance in terms of damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will display the item's attributes and the items required to upgrade it. The item upgrade's attributes will be displayed, along with any required items. For instance the No-mouth face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also verify the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

In general, armor and weapons have a higher trade value when they are fully updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with spells or glyphs that damage weapons. This will result in a significant improvement in their performance. Armor that has an upgraded appearance will also benefit from this, since its defense value will increase as it goes from purple to gold.
