If this sensor fails the ECU will display an error code P00160 which indicates that the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are not in sync and possibly indicating the chain stretching or a jump link on the upper chain of timing. The code won't appear without the additional information provided by other sensors (G4 or G40).
It is a little tricky to test as there are various pins on the connector and they all have different functions. The best method for doing this is to measure the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. If the sensor is operational, it should read around 1000 ohms. If you're experiencing issues with this component, look for evidence of oil or coolant in the connector bay.
2. Injectors
Yesterday, while accelerating from the highway paytoll at a high speed, i noticed a huge reduction in power. It was as if the engine had run out of gas. Or, my injectors were not firing. I took out the spark plugs this morning and found that 3 were soaked with gasoline and the 4th was dry. I placed a tissue over each injector hole, and when i start the engine with no sparks, the three that have gazoline pop right out. The fourth one remains shut. I checked the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I found 0ohm. I think the issue is somewhere else.
I also tried to reset the PID but with no luck. The car key replacement audi will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it runs fine with the G28 connected. However the intermittent misfire issue continues to occur at higher RPM. The coolant temperature sensor (G62) shows the wrong temp value -49c even when i unplug it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars when the actual pressure is zero.
