Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to enhance their weapons and gear with new affixes, increasing the base stats of the item or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.

Items that have weak bases, such as rings, can be upgraded into more robust bases. Items with strong bases, such as eth Titans have little change in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools. They provide an attribute bonus or an additional benefit, while the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, retrieved in loot from enemies, or gotten from chests and missions. Some upgrades additionally have special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be above a certain level before they can be upgraded.

In order to upgrade the quality of a weapon or piece armor, the player must select it, and then click the Upgrade item button located in the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade stats will be and also the required component or material needed for the upgrade to take place.

There are three types of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, such as gems, are able to be used on any kind of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that have a specific type limitation. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment are similar to jewels but have higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, add their names to the end of the name of the item they are connected to, for example adding the word Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If the player upgrades their gathering tool, and then replaces glyphs with another glyph the previous one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace another upgrade component, it will be destroyed, except for inscriptions, which can be swapped freely.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system is different from previous versions in some important ways. Gear is now categorised in tracks, and each item can only be upgraded so many times before it's "leveled out." The upgrade cost increases with each level however the materials required do not increase as much. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a few items and maximize the impact of those items rather than spreading upgrade costs over multiple pieces.

When an item is leveled out, it will be eligible for a new set of upgrade components, and an increase in the likelihood that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as Artisan's Energy. It will reset at 0 if the upgrade fails or increases when the upgrade succeeds.

When a piece is upgraded to its highest level, it will be able to receive an affix to increase its capabilities. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the item's kind. For example, a rare or unique weapon with a normal base will only have two affixes for it and legendary armors can have up to eight affixes available for it.

Each upgrade process requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on whether the item is at its current level and what slot it is located in. Weapons usually require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item upgrade doesn't reach its maximum level, the NPC grants the player the option to transfer it to a different character and re-infuse the item with a different set or upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and cost the same amount of materials. However, it has a lower success rate.

To measure the height of a building, engineers will employ a level to compare the measurement with a known reference point like a benchmark or the ground's elevation. This process is called a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the backsight rod and level, then turning the level to make the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to the highest level of accuracy and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling refers to the process of changing the upgrade components of an Best item upgrade. It is a vital aspect of the game and can drastically improve an item's strength or damage, as well as other characteristics. This can be done through the item menu or pressing the Reroll button of an upgraded item. Rerolling items can be costly and should be handled with care.

Each upgraded item can come with a bonus that increases the item's power by a specific percentage or flat value. These bonuses are offered into the usual affixes. The more you improve an item, the greater the chance of receiving a unique bonus.

The game also features several sets, which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are placed on an item. This is a great method of giving a character a lot more power without spending a ton of money.

Many players prefer to reroll their gear and weapons, particularly in the early stages of the game. Rerolling is a method to create a more powerful character quicker, which enables you to advance in the game and achieve higher tiers.

Sets

Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item upgrader kit and the required items to upgrade it. The attributes of the item upgrader kit will be displayed, along with any required items. To upgrade the No-mouth face, for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

In general, weapons and armor have a higher trade value when they are updated. Especially for weapons that have spell/weapon damage glyphs and are upgraded to gold is recommended as it will give a substantial increase in their power. Weapons with an upgraded appearance will also benefit from this, since its defense value will increase as it goes from purple to gold.
