WoW Upgrades - The item level upgrade Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boost in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item upgrader mod by 3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.

Upgraded gear generally sees higher trade value as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

The cost of upgrades will be based on the current item level upgrade (link) level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item upgrader kit will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, tools, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. The button will show a preview of an item's next level of upgrade, in the event that there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the item and the current item level. For example weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.

Item upgraders can be found at many locations including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of getting the latest recipe. The new currency system isn't complicated to use, however it will bring some changes to the process of upgrading. For instance, when a piece of equipment reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest ilvl possible for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another significant modification is that crests have one use, so it's important to use them wisely. This is particularly relevant for items like trinkets and rings that fill several slots.
